Throwback Thursday: I Lost My Eardrums to Online Commercials

Why do companies think that I’m more likely to buy their products when they crank the volume of their online commercials ten times louder than the show I’m watching?

If anything, it makes me a million times more likely to mute the commercial, which cuts the marketing value by half.

Hell, it makes me want to go Amish and build my own products than listen to that mess.

  1. I feel the same when film companies issue DVDs that try to force me to watch their Previews of Coming Attractions (ads for their other movies). If I can’t skip them, I fastforward through them. If that fails, I mute the sound and leave the room. I’ll watch previews IF and WHEN I want to, thank you very much!
